Battle Master
The Battle Master is a horrifyingly destructive war engine of death! You may think I’m being melodramatic; I’m not.
For starters, it has an Attack Power of 3, and has 2 Attacks, which means that under most circumstances, it hits for 6 Damage. It is also capable of hitting from 2 squares away, meaning it can reach all the way across the board, and further more, any enemies that are on any Field that it can attack are unable to Dodge – the Battle Master doesn’t actually have to attack them, it just has to be able too, and Dodge becomes useless. On top of that, all of the effected enemy cards also add 2 to their Activation Cost, meaning that they probably won’t even be able to strike back (or even turn) without emptying your opponents Mana pool.
Now let’s add in the fact that it has 6HP and no Blind Spots, and you also have an incredibly tough card which can take it as well as dish it out.
It doesn’t stop there though. When you summon the Battle Master, you can also search through your deck for Scion, Biolith Lord (if you have one in your deck, anyway) and place it into your hand. Now, since both Scion and the Battle Master have Summoning Costs of 6, it’s quite unlikely that you will get the 2 cards out in two turns, but if you DO manage to get both out, the Battle Master can use its devastating attack power for only 2 Mana – only 2 Mana for 6 un-Dodgeable damage to any target within range.

The only downsides of this card are its high cost and, to a lesser extent, it’s Summoning Lock (although realistically, it is unlikely that you’ll be in a position to play this card before the lock is removed). The only other bad thing is that, should you find yourself having this card played against you, it’s going to be trouble.
If you are unfortunate enough to have this happen, then make no mistake, you’re going to have problems. The only real way to deal with the Battle Master is lots and lots of brute force. Remember, Dodge won’t help you, Fieldquakes will have no effect, and the Battle Master can counter any Physical Attack made with its huge range. This means your only options are to find something that can destroy it in a single hit – Pursuer of Saint Dhees is a good choice for this – or to bombard it with Magic Attacks – Arc Satellite Cannon is another great choice. Don’t be afraid to use a Clare Wil’s Banner, or anything else that you can use to boost Attack Power.
If you closely monitor your opponents Mana usage, you might be able to get away with simply ignoring the card, especially if you can keep harrying the rest of their forces so that they can’t afford to NOT summon new creatures. If they have managed to get Scion on the board too, however, this stops being an option, and one of the cards must be destroyed or they will use the Battle Master to decimate you.

On top of everything else, the Battle Master also has great synergy with a number of cards, especially when used in a Biolith deck. The Aegis Citadel, for example, can make it immune to the barrage of attacks it is bound to receive, and the Archiver to help to keep its health high by summoning more Biolith creatures. If your opponent plays a card with lots of HP, you can even boost is incredible attack potential with Clare Wil’s Banner, giving it a total of 10 undodgable damage – enough to destroy anything your opponent can throw at you!

So, as I said, the Battle Master is a horrifying card. Take some small comfort in the fact that it is Ultra-Rare, and limited to one per deck, because this is bound to be a popular card. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Can you spotlight the Aegis Citadel next? It must be a good card, but I know nothing about it!

This is very much so a card of uber power. whats more if it gets some protection or a dodge attempt it will be neary unstopable, except on a few cases: Didi attacking it when battle master is on a fire field, a dragon, a dragon dragoon calvery, just anything that can do 6 damage in one hit. when set two comes I will try my best to get my hands on this thing!

I've ordered one, it's a monster.

this one is an absolute monster, especially if you can stick it on the central lith field, it essentially locks the board

it's all the power of the dragon dragoon calvery, with all the perks and attack range you could want. it may well be a bit too powerful.

A good counter to a Battle Master is your own Battle Master :p Wormak would do nicely as well if there are other non-biolith creatures on the board.

Battle master not many cards can kill this in one hit and the counter attack means anything that doesn't kill it in one hit is killed. Pursuer of saint dhees, dragon, phantom if you ahven't drwan these are don't have the mana this card will stay to the end.
